We are the Kilmarnock & Loudoun Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The walk follows the Clyde walkway beside the river to Cambuslang. The route is approximately 9 miles long with no gradients, however a large part of this walk is on tarmac surface, making it difficult for anyone with foot problems. There are toilets at the beginning of the walk, at our lunch stop at Cunningar Loop and also at Morrisons supermarket at the end of the walk. There are numerous points of interest along the route - Glasgow Green, the new park/woodlands at Cunningar, at a number of old industrial sites, reflecting the development of industrial Glasgow and a number of modern sculptures.
The return journey will be made from Cambuslang by bus or train. (If travelling from Kilmarnock by train it will be cheaper to get a return to Cambuslang)
There are no specific risks associated with this walk, other than perhaps bicycles without bells on the walkway and the leaders narrative on points of interest!
