Overview

After having a quick look at Clytha Castle, one of Wales most outstanding 18th century follies, we head to Coed y Bwynydd hillfort - one of the largest and best preserved in Monmouthshire.

We will take a coffee break here amongst the bluebells.

Then to Bettws Newydd taking in beautiful views of the Sugar Loaf and eastern Black Mountains on the way.

Having lunched near St. Aeddans Church (15th century church with 12th century foundations) our return route takes us along the river Usk where we may spot a kingfisher or even an oystercatcher !
