We are the Hike Essex Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A good chance to burn off some of that Christmas excess, meet new people and escape the in-laws/family.
A circular walk, we initially head south from the station past the zoo to Birch. Crossing the Colne and Roman Rivers along the ancient Saxon fortifications that used to protect the town. We head back via Colchester town centre and maybe a pub stop to warm up.
We are a friendly bunch, always welcoming new faces.
We will have a brief lunch stop so bring some snacks or a packed lunch, and any left-over Christmas treats.
Some of the paths are likely to be quite muddy so wear appropriate footwear. We'll keep to a steady pace, about 3mph.
