Starting the New Year with good company and fresh air, we will follow the Essex Way from Colchester to Fordham and then to Chappel. Through West Bergholt and some beautiful wintery countryside we touch the River Colne along the way.
On the way we will stop at The Coffee Shed in Fordham. They are famous fot their coffee and, even more legendary, Dingley Dell bacon cro-buns (pictured). Please message the leader if you want a cro-bun to give an idea of numbers for the cafe.
Please bring a picnic. Also it will be muddy and wet, so good boots recommended.
Potential drink in Chappel at the end, if they let us in with muddy boots.
This is a linear walk, trains and buses back to Colchester from Chappel
Meet at the Colchester North Station, CO1 1XD (north side) where there is parking.
Colchester North Station (north side). On arrival go down into the subway, as if to cross platforms. turn right at the bottom of the stairs. Follow to exits.
