Overview

The walk mainly follows the Coquet flood plain on good tracks with some uneven ground, wet patches and a few stiles: passing through Holystone and Lady’s Well then onto Sharperton, High Farnham and Wreighill, with some rising ascents towards the end.

Park at lay by on north side of Hepple bridge. (B6341 Rothbury to Elsdon road Map ref NT 982003) If extra parking space is needed there is a smaller lay by south of the bridge. Travel time from Ponteland approx. 45mins. A696 from Ponteland; after about 20 miles, take the sharp right turn at Raylees to Elsdon; over the moor to Elsdon and onto the B6341 to Hepple.
