We will meet at Kingsmeadow Car Park at 9.30 and travel to Bowhill House where we can park in the General's Carpark for £3.00. The walk will start at 10.15am.
The walk is 13.0km long with an ascent of 374 metres.
We will leave the car park and follow the B7039 towards Newark Castle. After a short distance we will turn right, picking up a path at the side of the field, where we will join the riverside path called the Lady's Walk. After a short distance we will leave the riverside, passing a number of cottages, to rejoin the road. We will come to Newark Castle where we will stop for coffee. After coffee we will walk on the road for a short distance, picking up the path through Black Andrew Wood. Following the yellow marker posts we emerge onto the path taking us to Newark Hill. The path then curves around the hillside, affording stunning views of the Yarrow Valley. Before we enter the forest we will stop for lunch and to enjoy the scenery. We follow the path through the plantation to pick up the estate road, passing Bowhill house, returning to the car park.
