The walk starts South of the city at Houghall, and takes in much of the city centre, with good views from Wharton Park.

Some sections of the route may be muddy and waterproof boots, gaiters and walking poles are advised. There will be several road crossings so please take care on these.

Car parking either at Houghall Lane Ends, nearest postcode DH1 3PJ, or nearby in Shincliffe Village. Please note that the car park further along Houghall Lane near Aamani restaurant and the Pump House tea rooms has signage stating it is for their customers only.
