We're back in picturesque Ellastone this Sunday. Do join us for a walk taking in the countryside to the south and north of the village.
Our route includes meadows with short grass😀, meadows with long grass😐, some lesser used footpaths, and a little road walking thrown in. No Weavers summit this time but a couple of long gradual ascents plus a couple of short sharp ones too make this a moderate to strenuous walk, but as usual, we won't be busting a gut. Twenty odd stiles. Poles recommended if you have them.
Let us know if you're coming along please. Cheers!
Directions:
From Hednesford via the A460 to Rugeley where straight on at the Miners island to pick up the B5013 signed for Uttoxeter. Follow this road for approximately 12 miles to turn right at Blounts Green onto the A518 for 0.5 mile to reach Uttoxeter itself.
Continue on the A518 around the eastern side of the town by carefully following the multiple signage at the islands for Rocester B5030, which is ultimately joined by turning right at the last island shortly after crossing the A50 overbridge.
Proceed on the B5030, over two islands, and bypass Rocester. After passing the JCB plant on your left continue straight on at the next island on the B5030 (B5032) now signed Ashbourne, for 3 miles to Ellastone.
In Ellastone village turn left shortly after the Duncombe Arms pub signed for Wooton, then right after 125 yards into Church Lane. The car park is on your left 100 yards later.
