Overview

We start our hike from Elsted Marsh at 10am.

This is a great hike and follows quiet secluded footpaths, tracks, lanes with fabulous views of the South Downs.

We climb up onto the the South Downs Way and stop for a short break to take in the panoramic views and then follow the South Downs Way to Beacon Hill/Harting Down where we will have lunch and leaving the climbing behind us.

Descending to East Harting we take in a part of the Serpent Trail and a short part of the dismantled railway between Petersfield and Midhurst.

The landlord of The Elsted Inn has welcomed us to park in the adjoining business site where he has permission to use their parking at weekends and I would encourage hikers to patronize the pub for a drink after the hike.

The hike will be at a reasonable pace and includes a couple of hills.

All welcome together with dogs under control.
