A dramatic landscape with excellent views across the Calder Valley at Todmorden will be explored with our knowledgeable guide. A steep climb at the start of the walk will take you through woods and bridleways onto the open moors, where there is the chance to see rare ground-nesting birds like curlews, lapwings and meadow pipits. Take a deep breath of fresh clean air and immerse yourself in nature.
As ever, Calderdale weather can be somewhat unpredictable, particularly in spring, so come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the forecast conditions. Moorland can be wet and muddy at any time, so take this into account. Bring a packed lunch and a drink to enjoy in the fresh air as no cafes are available en route.
At this time of year, dogs MUST be kept on a short lead due to nesting birds and lambing.
Nearby Todmorden has a number of cafes and pubs for post-walk refreshments and is well-served by public transport.
