Due to the World Cycling Championships, the road to Traquair will be closed tomorrow. Walk has therefore been cancelled.
We are the Tweeddale Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Meet at KCP at 9.30am and car share to the layby opposite the Glen House gate house.NT 306336 or meet at layby for 10am start.
Walk for a short distance up the Glen Road, then turn right on to the Cross Borders Drove Road. Pass Birks Farm, skirt Orchard Rig and on to Kirkhope Law, Birkscairn Hill and Stake Law. Descend to Glenshiel Banks, roughly following Banks Burn. Return via Loch Eddy, following Quair Water and past Larch Wood.
The walk is mostly on good paths and forest tracks. There is one short stretch over rough ground with no path, so care is required.
There is room for 4 or 5 cars in layby but there is additional parking for 2 cars beyond layby at the junction with the Drove road. If necessary, we can park at Traquair Church and ferry walkers to the start.
The cost per passenger is £2 from KCP.
