David and Pamela will be leading their walk, which follows footpaths alongside the route of the former railway line; climbs to Trillinghurst Farm (50m), descends past the 15th-16th century Pattyndenne Manor; the 16th century Smugley Farmhouse, through the medieval centre of Goudhurst Village on the hill (115m) to conclude at the start location.
Drinks and lunch available in The Star and Eagle pub on High Street. Optional viewing of 15th century effigies of iron master and wife in St Mary's Church.
We will pause for a couple of minutes to admire the view towards Goudhurst from Trillinghurst hill. (halfway point of walk)
No dogs (because of need to cross busy road and several stiles).
