A coach trip to Grassington - a picturesque North Yorkshire village situated on the Dales Way. There will be two walks - one of aproximately 8.5 miles and the other 5.9 miles. The longer walk will begin alongside the River Wharfe, through pleasant woodland, and a quiet road to Conistone where we pick up an uphill stony track through a rocky ravine. From there a short scramble takes us to open moorland and we follow the Dales Way back to Grassington on a good wide path with glorious views.
The shorter walk passes near to four of the Dales' most picturesque villages - Grassington, Threshfield, Thorpe and Linton and offers the chance to visit one of the Dales' most historic churches. It will be a leisurely walk as there is plenty of time to complete it. All paths are good; there is some road walking on very quite roads, and, initially, short up hill sections. The countryside is beautiful with excellent views over the River Wharfe. Towards the end we pass an historic hydroelectric power generation plant. We plan to have lunch near to a public house in Linton.
Grassington offers a variety of Cafes, Pubs and shops.
The cost of the trip is £17.00. To book a place on the coach, please text Anne Langdon on 07745397193, and include the names of each person you are booking for.
