We start this walk from the Cross Keys PH, heading east along the edge of Lamer Wood, passing Harepark Spring before reaching Ayot St Lawrence. We pass Shaw's Corner, the NH property previously owned by the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw famous for writing Pygmalion. We then head south east passing Stocking Springs before crossing the Codicote Road. We continue the track until we reach the old Luton to Welwyn dismantled railway line, following the line back in the direction of Wheathampstead before heading north again passing Lamer Park and back to our start and well deserved refreshments at the Cross Keys. Let’s hope for a little winter sunshine ??
Hopefully good weather but sturdy footwear is required as the ground will be boggy in parts. Please try and park on Ballslough Hill on the LH side facing the pub rather than in the pub car park.
This is a moderate pace walk. We want everyone to enjoy our walks, if you have any concerns about the pace please speak to the walk leader.
Please bring your Ramblers card (if you have one) to help speed up the Ramblers register before we start the walk.
