We are the South West Sussex Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A flat walk around Chichester Harbour ,starting and finishing at the Crown and Anchor pub in Dell Quay Road. Taking the footpath along the water's edge down to the marina, through Birdham Pool, we then divert inland to have a coffee break at St Nicholas Church before heading out to the harbour again at Chalkdock. The harbourside path takes us round to Itchenor, the lunch stop before continuing back along the Salterns Way to our starting point. Expect to see migratory flocks of geese, egrets and waders Far reaching views across the harbour towards the Downs, Chichester cathedral and Goodwood.
Please note. Parking charges now apply at the marina. Expect to pay £6. For this reason, I have decided to start the walk from Dell Quay Road where there is plenty of on road parking. Those wanting a shorter walk (6 miles) can park in the marina and join us there. The marina is also served by 52/53 bus .
The whole walk will start from Dell Quay Road at 9.45am. I aim to be at the marina CP at 10.30am to meet those wanting to do the shorter (6M) walk.
