A walk for the last day of summer. Starting from Hatton Locks across the fields and through woodland around a quiet golf course to Leek Wootton, passing Turkey Farm (spot the turkey?), Goodrest Farm (no rest for us) and The Lunch (too early!!) arriving at Leek Wootton churchyard for a break. Then into an old garden (spot the evidence) and round the edge of the golf course. We then walk across fields where there is an unexpected trig point, under the A46 and down to the Grand Union canal meeting it at the Cape of Good Hope(the pub) where will have another stop - drink from the pub is optional. It is then back along the canal passing up the Hatton flight of locks. Cafe available near the car park.
At 9.5 miles this maybe a long walk for some but the paths and tracks are in good condition. There are also no hills and no stiles.
Parking is at Hatton Locks. It maybe £3.00 or £4.50 depending whether you use cash or card - a tad confusing. Card machine said £3. Just bring both just in case.
If anybody is unable to get to Hatton Locks and needs a lift please contact the walk leader who may be able to help.
