Overview

Hello Everyone

We're walking fairly locally this Sunday with Jean & Phil in and around the Little & Great Haywood areas. Phil is a Haywood resident, and Jean isn't far away either so both know all the footpaths around here like the backs of their hands! The walk also includes some canal towpath and quiet lanes. Just three stiles. Slightly less distance than on the programme at 8 miles.

Fancy coming along? You're most welcome to do so👍. If this is you're very first time with us it'd be great if you could let us know beforehand, thanks. FYI we'll take a coffee break after an hour or so, followed by lunch when appropriate, so please bring sufficient food & drink for your day out.

Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00. Walk leaders: Jean (07419 113055) & Phil (07904 199278)

Toilets at the beginning with an opportunity also at lunchtime if needed.

Post walk refreshments/socials to be sorted out on the day. We'll find somewhere, as always.

⚠️Our own members should note there isn't a rendezvous at Hednesford for this local walk. Please go direct to the start.

Directions. The start is located four miles west of Rugeley, Staffordshire via the A51.

From Lichfield and Rugeley directions take the A51, direction Stone, until the double mini-islands at Wolseley Bridge where turn right at the second of these, still A51. Continue for 0.75 mile to then turn left signed for Colwich and Little Haywood. Follow the course of the road for 1 mile to the start point as below.

The road climbs away from Little Haywood after passing The Lamb & Flag pub and as it tops out you'll pass Haywood Garage on your right hand side. The car park entrance is 100 yards later on the right also.

If you're arriving from the north via the A51 turn right 0.5 mile after passing under the railway bridge, signed for Great Haywood. Pass through the village and proceed uphill where the car park is on your left towards the top.

If you're arriving from anywhere else it's satnav time. What3words highly recommended.
