Overview

Long Walk

On Sunday 25th February we are doing something different  .  .  .  .  .  we are going overseas! .  .  .  .  slight exaggeration as we are crossing the Clyde estuary to the beautiful Isle of Cumbrae.  This will involve a ferry crossing after leaving the bus in Largs.

The good news is Committee has agreed to discount the bus fare to £10 (paid either cash or bank transfer).   The ferry cost is £3.60, which will be collected on the bus.

The walk is entirely on tarmac!

The road rises gently to only just over 100m, and the views from the top are worth it. We continue onto Millport, where the walk splits into longer and shorter routes back to the ferry The walk will be on tarmac roads and pavements, so you may not wish to wear boots; your personal preference. There was some surface water when we did the recce, but nothing major.    The social will be back in Largs where there are a number of hostelries, including a Wetherspoons directly next to the ferry, and the wonderful Nardini's with its amazing range of flavoured ice creams.
