Overview

Starting at Hirwaun Library, we will follow the new and current A465 before heading towards Rhigos, to pass through the Hirwaun industrial estate.  We then climb to St Cynog’s church, Penderyn, via a quiet lane, before heading downhill for lunch at Yr Eithin.  We then cross the Cynon (bridge) to return to Hirwaun along the Mineral Line, cutting through the Iron Works back to the car park.  This walk should be dry underfoot.

Most of the walk is on well-formed paths or roads, and will be dry underfoot.  The climb to the church is steep, with good views over Penderyn and Bannau Brycheiniog.
