We are the Carlisle Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Alternative walk for those missed walk 2 of the Annandale Way (Hoddom to Lochmaben). Linear walk so requires cars at both Lockerbie and Hoddom. This is a less hilly option for those who opted out from the original walk 2 of 5.
Starting from Hoddom we follow the original course of walk 2 of 5, crossing the golf course alongside the River Annan with views of the castle. After a short distance we arrive at Square route where we divert from the original and then follow 'Water of Milk' using tracks and farm roads before joining a quiet B class road for a short distance. We then leave the road, at the walks highest point (99m) to walk alongside a wood. Open farmland follows before we enter Hallmuir plantation. After that a sharp dog-leg to the left sees us enter Craw Wood and then two plantations that will see us arrive at the Remembrance Gardens and the end of the walk.
The linear walk requires cars in two locations. Drivers are asked to arrive at Lockerbie for 0930 (having, where possible, dropped passengers off at Hoddom en route). We will then take the minimum number of cars possible back to Hoddom for the start of the walk at 1000. At the end of the walk some cars will need to provide a lift for those who left their cars at Hoddom.
