A walk in Holkham Park. The walk commences in arable farmland, passing by the historic C18th Great Barn where "Coke of Norfolk" held his annual "Shearings" - the forerunner to modern agricultural shows where farmers from near and far shared innovative ideas about farming and animal breeding during the Agricultural Revolution. We then join the south drive of Holkham Park, the original entrance to the park, where we ascend to the obelisk and share the stunning first view of Holkham Hall that would have amazed visitors in the C18th.
We pause at the Temple before descending towards the Hall, passing the Ice House, then doing a circuit of the lake, passing St Withburga's Church and the monument to Thomas W Coke, Coke of Norfolk. We will have a sight of the flock of fallow deer at some point on our circuit.
Passing by the north facade of the Hall, we return to the starting point.
