A relatively short but scenic walk starting from the picturesque village of Hurley. Please meet at the Hurley Village car park for a 10:30 start.
We initially make our way from the car park towards Hurley Lock on the bank of the Thames then mosey on west along the riverbank where on reaching Frogmill Farm we head south towards Henley Road. Between the farm and road is a stile, the only one on the route. After this we follow the Knowl Hill Bridleway Circuit footpath towards Ashley Hill forest.
We then follow The Chiltern Way eastwards to Burchetts Green then turn north back towards Hurley and pass through the Berkshire College of Agriculture. As we pass through High Wood there are panoramic views across the Thames as we begin our descent back into Hurley to the start point.
There is an option to stop off at The Rising Sun in Hurley for a post walk refreshment for anyone able to stay afterwards, this is a 5 minute straight walk along the road from the start point.
The total ascent on the route is approximately 494ft/150m and the short but not too steep 35m ascent of Ashley Hill makes the walk grade Moderate. Please bring a packed lunch and liquid refreshment.
