Overview

From the village we first climb towards Bunster Hill to Air Cottage, then drop down through the woods to meet the river below Ilam Rock. From there we climb again to Stanhope via Hall Dale, then down again to picturesque Milldale before another climb to the east of the valley. The return is by way of Thorpe village and the 18th century Coldwall Bridge.
