This walk is a coach trip embarking from Lossie Green Car Park, Elgin at 08:00. (Pick up via Forres).
Inverness to Inchmore: 9.5mi: From Inverness Leisure Centre we walk alongside the Caledonian Canal following the Great Glen Way heading south west. We slowly ascend to have a coffee stop at the new reservoir. Lunch is just before heading north at Black Fold. We pass Loch Dionach on our right then descend though Newtowhill before the reaching the end.
Shorter walk (leisurely) option: 6.7mi: This is part of the Tall Trees trail - heads up the Reelig Glen through beautiful mixed woodland, boasting some of Britain's tallest trees. We will see an impressive stand of Douglas Fir trees, well over 100 years old with an average height of 50 metres. In 2020, one of the trees as measured at 62 metres (204 feet) making it the tallest tree in Britain. After a local competition it was named Dughall Mòr - meaning 'Big Stranger'; an adjoining tree has since been measured as even taller.

Please Note: The ‘Estimated Finish Time’ shown below is when the walk is due to end, however the walk start time can vary due to conditions on the day. On our return journey to Elgin, the coach has a stop-off for ‘refreshments’ therefore we cannot give a fixed time for our return to Elgin.

If you have registered to attend one of our weekend walks but fail to attend a charge of £10 will be levied.
Good walking boots / shoes are essential, gaiters, waterproof jacket and trousers and poles are advised. Bring food and drink for the day.
All walkers must carry some form of ICE (In Case of Emergency) identification. This includes your name, mobile number and next of kin contact name and number.
Toilets: There are no toilets on the route.
