Overview

This walk is a coach trip embarking from Lossie Green Car Park, Elgin at 08:00. (Pick up via Forres).

Inverness to Inchmore: 9.5mi: From Inverness Leisure Centre we walk alongside the Caledonian Canal following the Great Glen Way heading south west. We slowly ascend to have a coffee stop at the new reservoir. Lunch is just before heading north at Black Fold. We pass Loch Dionach on our right then descend though Newtowhill before the reaching the end.

Shorter walk (leisurely) option: 6.7mi: This is part of the Tall Trees trail - heads up the Reelig Glen through beautiful mixed woodland, boasting some of Britain's tallest trees. We will see an impressive stand of Douglas Fir trees, well over 100 years old with an average height of 50 metres. In 2020, one of the trees as measured at 62 metres (204 feet) making it the tallest tree in Britain. After a local competition it was named Dughall Mòr - meaning 'Big Stranger'; an adjoining tree has since been measured as even taller.
