Overview

The walk is mainly on footpaths following the Art Park, Linear Park (old railway route), past Manchester Ship Canal, Old River Irwell, Princes Park (lunch stop), Irlam Moss, Irlam station

Terrain is mostly flat with some steps. Potential hazards are tree roots, maybe muddy/slippery in places. Care should be taken when crossing roads

Refreshments and toilets at Irlam Station and Princes Park.

There are several heritage boards along the route showing the district's industrial past. The station house is worth spending some time in looking at historical artifacts, maps and photographs.
