This is a fine coastal walk with great views along the Jurasic Coast throughout the day.
We start our walk from the car park a little west of the main village and head for Houns Tout with fine views of St Aldhems Head in one direction and Gadd to the West. We follow the SW Coast Path into Kimmeridge Bay passing Clavell Tower. We ascend to Tyneham Cap and then descend to Worbarrow Bay for our lunch stop.
We continue after lunch via Tyneham back up to Tyneham Cap and then follow the ridge above Kimmeridge and then ascend the ridge to the fine viewpoint of Swyre Head our highest point of the day, before descending gently back to our start point.
Please note the early start time this is to make sure we can all get parked at the start of the walk. There are three moderate ascents on this walk and two steep descents, walking poles are recommended. There are no stiles. There are toilets and refreshments at Kimmeridge Bay and Tyneham village.
We are not expecting mud so the walk is suitable for trail shoes or boots, please bring waterproofs, forecast dependent and a packed lunch.
We walk as a group at a brisk pace but will have a short stops at Kimmeridge Bay and Swyre Head in addition to our lunch stop.
No dogs please.
At the conclusion of the walk we may take optional refreshments at the Scott Arms.
