Overview

13.5 miles from Kintbury in West Berkshire, climbing up the steep Inkpen Hill, then along the top passing the summit of Walbury Hill, the highest point in Berkshire. We'll stop for lunch around here to admire the great views over the North Wessex Downs, Hungerford and Newbury. Then onwards over Combe Hill before dropping back down and heading north back to Kintbury. Please bring a packed lunch with you, appropriate clothing for the weather, plenty of water too, especially if it's warm and sun protection. We can stop at the pub for a drink either a few miles from the end or in Kintbury.

Meeting point at Kintbury canalside car park, which is free and just beyond the level crossing on right coming south from the A4 (do not use the train station or pub car parks, which are on the other side of the road). Lat/Long 51.4024095N, 1.4468040W, what3words ///whisker.wool.undercuts. Toilets available before the start.

Public transport: Kintbury train station, which you could get to from Oxford via a change at Reading, for example. The meeting point is opposite, on the other side of the road.

Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

We'll start walking at 10:30am. Please aim to arrive at 10:15am but if you happen to be slightly delayed on the day, particularly if you are coming on the train, please do let me know. We aim to be back by about 6pm. There will be a few hills, with a steep climb up Inkpen Hill.

Non-Ramblers members are welcome and are able to attend 3 walks before joining the organization.
