Overview

This 5.5 mile walk from Sandhurst will take us round the lakes of Yateley, good views from Finchampstead Ridges and along the Blackwater River.

Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can (see Website link), so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.

Walk details We will meet at the bottom of the slope to the entrance of platform 1 of Sandhurst Train Station. From here we will walk along Sandhurst high street briefly before heading down a country lane and in to Horseshoe Lake. We then head across farmland where we may see horses and in to woodland going up hill towards Finchampstead Ridges. We will take a quick drinks break and enjoy the view point in Finchampstead ridges before going downhill and heading in to Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve. We will walk past more lakes and follow the Blackwater River back to Horseshoe Lake before heading back to Sandhurst Station. Travel details By public transport If travelling from Reading, please get the 18.21 train arriving at Sandhurst at 18.39. By car Please be aware there is no car park at Sandhurst Station. You can park in the roads around the station but please check as parking restrictions may apply. You can also park at Sandhurst Memorial Park about half a mile down the road. Please allow enough time to find a space and walk to the starting point in time for the start. Notes

  • Please bring a drink and a snack.
  • Please note: there is NO lunch stop on this walk.
  • It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.
