For those wanting to do a shorter version of the whole walk we will be walking 3 miles in the morning and then approximately 2 to 3 miles in the afternoon.
In the morning we walk around Mearness peninsula amongst interesting wildlife, partly on the proposed route of the England Coast Path. On paths, tracks and foreshore with one tricky step. Lunch back at the cars. In the afternoon we meander around Roudsea National Nature Reserve along some superb woodland tracks. The walk will partly be on the proposed ECP. On a good day we may see Osprey, some butterfly and dragonfly species and possibly slowworm along with interesting plants.
Directions to the car park at Roudsea Wood - Turn left into Haverthwaite, off A590 and left again on to B5278. Immediately after crossing the bridge turn right down the private road beside the river. Follow this surfaced track slowly ( bendy and potholed) for nearly 1.5 miles where the leader will meet you and show you where to park at the Private Car Park.
