A moderate and quite hilly walk with a total ascent of approximately 1200’. An extensive circulation of Ashdown Forest enjoying views from all four points of the compass. Dropping down to Newbridge, then turning west for a gentle climb to the Ashdown Forest Centre (coffee & loos) then south to Chelwood Vachery Forest Garden, and east to Millbrook where there are seats for lunch. South east towards Nutley Windmill and Friends Clump, then north east to Camp Hill for a brief rest before heading north to Kings Standing and back to the start at Gills Lap carpark.
Almost all the walk is within the Forest but there are two short road walks, and eight road crossings including two of the A22. No stiles but some paths are a bit rough underfoot. Hardly any mud on the day of the recce. Poles recommended.
Bring your own drinks and picnic. (Ashdown Forest Centre is not open for refreshment)
