THIS IS A BRAND NEW WALK FOR ME! As far as I know we haven’t walked from Micheldever Station before, so this is an exciting new walk to start from a new location. The walk is 10.5 miles long but the route is very flat. This walk offers great views – farmers’ fields, woodlands, exciting new location and trains!
Advance booking is not required, but if you plan on attending this walk, please indicate this on Meetup if you can (see Website link), so others can see that there will be plenty of people going.
Pace: gentle.
Walk details
We start off by heading away from Micheldever Station along the Andover Road then head off down a public footpath. Like I said this walk is mainly flat so you can see right off into the distance. After stretching our legs along the first part of this walk we come into the tiny hamlet of Weston Colley – only about 20 houses here.
Passing under the railway line we start our walk towards the village of Micheldever. Passing through farmers’ fields and small parcels of woodland we will find a suitable lunch stop, probably along the end of a field. The walk will take us down a footpath called Chapel Avenue. Once we arrive in the village of Micheldever we have the chance for the first pub stop at the “Half Moon and Spread Eagle” – what a great name (it made me chuckle).
After being hopefully refreshed the walk will continue with us starting to make our way back to the start. We head back under the railway line to give us the chance to follow the line closely for a section. PLEASE BE AWARE the path next to the line was quite slippery on the recce so please take it easy and be careful.
Once we have left following the railway line we head back into the small hamlet of Weston Colley and heading back down the track we came but we divert off the path to take us a different route back to the station.
If you have time before your train and don’t want to rush off you have the chance of a 2nd pub stop at The Dove Inn which is just opposite Micheldever Station.
