Exploring the beaches, woods and inlets of the northern side of the mighty River Stour as it joins the Orwell and the sea. This walk affords stunning views across the river towards the Essex coast and the port of Felixstowe
Starting at Manningtree Station, we pass the Royal Hospital School and finish at the marina at Shotley Gate. From Shotley Marina we will catch the 3pm ferry to Harwich where there are trains back to the start in Manningtree.
We will cover the 14 miles in 5 hours to make the ferry, so we will need to keep a good pace. I've made it an early start on a Sunday so we aren't too rushed.
Please bring a picnic, we will find a nice beach to stop and eat. Good footwear recommended.

Meeting at 9.00 for a prompt 9.15 start
The Shotley to Harwich ferry takes about 10 minutes and costs £4.40. It is bookable in advance (see link below) or on the boat itself by card.
Please note the ferry is the only public transport from Shotley Gate on a Sunday. We will be catching the 3pm ferry.
Meet at the front of Manningtree Station. There is plenty of car-parking available
We will get the ferry from Shotley Gate to Harwich where there are regular rail connections back to Manningtree.
