Overview

BOOKING REQUESTED

From Marple Bridge visiting the Marple Aqueduct and along the canal past the Marple flight of locks. Descending to the River Goyt and along, passing the remains of Arkwright’s Mill and the Roman Lakes to Strines. Then crossing the river and heading north to Marple Ridge, along the Peak Forest Canal and the River Goyt, through the centre of Marple Bridge and back to the car park.  We may meet some shire horses after lunch!  And there is the option of a tea shop visit at the end of the walk for those who would like to stay.  Risk assessment:  May be muddy in places after rain. Four road crossings. Four sturdy, low stiles.  A few wobbly steps.  A steep flight of good stairs with handrail when we descend from the canal to the river.
