The start and finish will be from the Bryn Glo free car park on the A5 near Pont Cyfyng Nr Capel Curig.
A wonderful route taking you up to Moel Siabod which is the highest peak in the Moelwynion mountain range. The trail starts at the Bryn Glo car park off the A5 near Pont Cyfyng. Follow the road to the Cyfyng Falls, where you take a left, crossing the bridge over the Afon Llugwy with lovely views of the falls. You'll head through Pont Cyfyng before continuing the uphill walk along a good track, leading you across the open space and tracing the edge of a small lake along the way. A little further, you'll pass Moel Siabod Slate Quarry. The path gets narrower and is steep and rocky in places as you continue uphill and pass Llyn y Foel, which is a stunning sight of amidst the mountains. After passing the lake, we climb the Daear Ddu ridge this is a grade 1 scramble, The views from the top are breath-taking and absolutely worth the climb. On a clear day, it offers a fantastic viewpoint of many of the surrounding Eryri mountain ranges. Once you're ready to head back, descend along the north-eastern ridge back towards Pont Cyfyng. (Parts can be boggy so waterproof boots a positive)
This is a group walk and the pace will be a slow group pace. If you do not enjoy walking as a group or are not prepared to be patient with other group members who are not as fast as you, then maybe you should miss this one. There will be plenty of breaks so bring plenty of food & water for you to enjoy the day on this great walk.
