The Bell PH in Wendens Ambo has re-opened under new management following extensive refurbishment. A good reason for the Uttlesford Ramblers to walk from there and to sample their menu after the walk.
The circular walk of approximately 6 miles starts from the pub and is quite gentle with no steep slopes but there are 5 stiles. The route takes us to Duddenhoe Lane and then to Newport: it skirts the playing fields of the secondary school and then follows the Saffron Trail to Wendens Ambo, on to the B1383, under the large viaduct near Audley End station and back to the Bell. Dependent on the weather, there may be some muddy stretches and a short section where there are nettles (short wearers beware!).
