I'm planning a morning hike up Morven - one of the closest Corbetts (mountains between 2,500ft to 3000ft) to Aberdeen, where we can take in the views from Bennachie to Lochnagar (weather permitting!).
"On the eastern fringe of the Cairngorms, Morven dominates the Aberdeenshire farmland of Cromar lying to its east. It provides a popular ascent for Aberdonians, with extensive views." Walkhighlands

Distance: 5.5 miles / 8.8 km
Time: 4 - 5 hours
Ascent: 655 m
Start Point Grid Ref NJ410043
The meeting point is at the end of a minor road which branches west off the A97 1km south of Logie Coldstone - it is signed for Groddie. There is space for a few cars here. The exact meeting point is described further in the Walkhighlands link above, which also includes a link to Google Maps.
We will depart from the start point at 9am, therefore please aim to arrive 10-15 minutes earlier to get kit ready, etc.
I would encourage attendees to car share where possible. I have space to take 3 others, for pickup in the West End of Aberdeen. If you would like a spot, send me a message or comment below.
Moderate to Strenuous: This walk is for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level. It includes a steep ascent over rough ground and boggy areas at times. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential, along with hat, spare pairs of gloves, food and plenty of water. Please do not wear jeans as you will not be permitted on the walk. If you have any queries about your fitness level or kit to bring, please reach out to me in advance.
We will continue to register attendance using the Ramblers App. It would be helpful if you could either bring your membership card along, or download and login to the Ramblers app.
Please also be aware that walking/hillwalking is an activity that carries a certain amount of danger of personal injury or death. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
