Overview

We begin our ascent of Sugar Loaf Mountain from the outset - once the trig point has been reached we descend via Cwm Trosnant entering Deri Fach and making our way around to the Rholben before heading down through the grounds of Parc Lodge Farm (National Trust) to the start.

Coffee  and lunch break (packed lunch required).

This walk is graded “Moderate++” (Ramblers Handbook - to include steep paths with a good level of fitness required). Advisable - waterproof footwear/gaiters and extra layers (hat, gloves, etc) once the trig is reached.

Sugar Loaf Trailhead Car Park. Chepstow to Abergavenny - A465 towards Llanfoist, first exit into Abergavenny keeping on the A4143 towards Brecon - at third roundabout go right then first left up Chapel Road - follow all the way up to the car park.
