Overview

From the entrance to Sconce and Devon Park, we explore the four corners of the Queen’s Sconce earthworks before dropping down to the River Devon and across to Mill Gate (the old route of Fosse Way) and then on to Newark Castle. After a short section of North Gate, we will walk along the right bank of the Trent to Newark Nether Lock, the last lock on the Trent before Cromwell Lock before retracing our steps for a few hundred yards to cross the river and follow the left bank to Riverside Park , Newark Town Lock and the Grade II listed Longstone Bridge. Many old, listed buildings and an Archimedes screw.
