We are the Gateshead Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Starting point Newburn Country Park. Free carpark is opposite Newburn Activity Centre. Junction of Grange Road and Fosse Law.
From the carpark we will head East over Newburn Bridge and follow the Keelmans Way to Stella. From here we head up into Blaydon Burn nature reserve passing through woods and streams. At the top of the Burn we take a steep incline into the outskirts of Winlaton going over a few well maintained stiles. We then walk over fields into Barlow village before we start our return. From Barlow we take a descent into the Folly nature reserve in Greenside and then our journey continues via Dent Hall Farm and down into old Ryton Villgae. Once we reach Ryton pinfold we head down through woods, over the railway crossing and follow the river Tyne along Ryton Willow. The last part of our journey takes us back over Newburn Bridge and back to the carpark.
There is pub for refreshments and toilet facilities at the Keelmans afterwards.
