Overview

A circular 12.5 mile HILLY walk from Newhaven Town station.  We start by making our way along footpaths eastwards, including a short, sharp climb to Norton, then head along Poverty Bottom before a gradual climb up Heighton Hill to join the SDW to Firle Beacon (217m).  We then head down to Firle for a well earned late picnic lunch after ca. 7.5 miles / 3 hours.

After lunch we head along a recently created (thanks to the efforts of Chris Smith!) new Byway, before climbing ca. 150m up to the Radio Station and then gently descending to South Heighton and on to Newhaven.

Catch the train from Brighton at 9.48, arrives Newhaven Town 10.17; Bus #12 departs Brighton station 9.35, arrives Newhaven 10.20.

If travelling by car please allow plenty of time to find parking in the nearby streets west of the river and walk to the start point!
