Another chance to use your bus pass!
This walk goes from the mountains almost to the Menai Strait. It follows the Snowdonia Slate Trail from Ogwen Cottage to Llandygai, along Nant Ffrancon, through Bethesda and along the lower Ogwen valley. Stunning scenery all the way and mostly downhill - what’s not to like!
We will meet in Llandygai and take the bus to Ogwen Cottage. Our route will follow the “old road” down Nant Ffrancon under towering mountains and along the path through the slate heaps to Bethesda. We will continue along the Slate Trail to cross the river and ascend through the town to enjoy unusual views over the Zip World site and Mynydd Llandygai. Finally we will descend into the beautiful lower Ogwen valley back to our start point.
The walk is just over 10 miles, mostly on lanes, with about 800 feet of ascent and will take about five and a half hours.
Unfortunately this walk is not suitable for dogs because of livestock.
Please aim to arrive by 9:45am. We need to park cars and be ready to walk to the nearby bus stop at 10am - with your bus pass if you have one. The T10 bus leaves at 10:16am and the ride to Ogwen Cottage will take about 15 minutes. There are public toilets at the visitor centre from where we start the walk. We will also call at the toilets in Bethesda during the walk.
Booking requested - please text me Dave M on 07908 128768 and I will confirm your place.
If it is more convenient for you to catch the bus in Bangor or Bethesda or to meet us at Ogwen Cottage, please advise me in your text message so that I know not to expect you at Llandygai.
