A varied walk in the Northern Pennines, on mainly good paths and gradual ascents. We start by going into Geltsdale and follow the isolated, beautiful Old Water valley up to the path to the shooting box, where we turn onto the remote and rugged grouse moor of Cumrew Fell, continuing to Cardunneth Pike, with wonderful views over to the Lakeland fells and the Solway, and then down to the road near Jockey Shield. Due to ground-nesting birds on the moor, dogs are not allowed on the majority of the walk.
