Overview

MPORTANT!  We are using Meetup to handle attendance.  Please do not turn up unless you are confirmed as attending on the event page.

We will start in Orwell from Lordship Close at 11:25 and make our way towards Cobb's Wood, where an ancient forest and the remains of a medieval village can be found. We then cross the Wimpole estate where we stop for lunch. (Cafe and Toilets available). We then make our way towards Arrington before heading up the hill along the forest belt which takes us towards The Gloucesters. Crossing Great Eversden we make our way up Thorn hill, returning us to Orwell where we can enjoy the views of the chalk pits, before heading back to our starting point. (14:55). A pleasant country Pub awaits at the end of the walk for refreshments.

If travelling by car, there is free public parking at (SG8 5QN), public transport is the 75 Bus to Orwell(Lordship Close) leaving Drummer St 4 at 10:30am arrive 11:15. The bus service to Orwell is extremely limited, if anyone driving can provide a car share to those planning to return on public transport, it would help relieve the pressure on the group to ensure the walk returns on time to meet the last bus from Orwell.

It's expected to be hot for this time of year, so please bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
