We leave the car park and walk east to start our ascent to the Temple of the Winds on Blackdown. We then follow the Serpent's Trail and Sussex Border Path across Blackdown Heath, descending to cross the A286 and back up the other side to Marley Common. We continue on the Sussex Border Path to Linchmere where we have lunch at the church overlooking the valley to Stanley Common. Then we walk though woods back to Fernhurst.
If the weather is clear the views from Blackdown and Linchmere church are very good.
This is a hilly walk. The first ascent up to Blackdown covers about a mile.
