This walk starts from near the windfarm above Wainstalls, approx. 0.2 miles beyond the former Withens pub.
A visit to Cold Edge Dams is followed by crossing farmland, moorland and Halifax Golf Club to Ogden Reservoir. From there we pass through the beautiful Ogden Glen and up on to Thornton Moor, then past Delphs, along the Nab Hill Escarpment to join the road by Warley Moor reservoir to return to our start.
Calderdale is prone to changeable weather so we recommend good footwear and suitable clothing for the forecast conditions. In wet conditions walking poles can be helpful on hilly terrain.
Bring a packed lunch as no refreshment facilities are visited on the walk.
Some roadside parking is available on Cold Edge Road near the entrance to the wind farm beyond Wainstalls, but carshare is suggested. No public transport to the start point, although buses do run to the centre of the village approximately 20 mins walk from the start.
Excellent meals and refreshments are available at the Crossroads Inn and the Cat i' the Well nearby after the walk.
