We are the Grantham Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Surprise view, Canal, Denton Res, The Drift
Parking will be on the Barrowby Lowfield, the entrance to which is at the junction of Dysart Road, the Drift and Low Road.
We will be following the bridle way across fields to Surprise View (Pancake Hill) where there are good views of Belvoir Castle and the Vale.
Descending the hill we follow the River Devon then join the towpath of Grantham Canal. At Denton Wharf we leave the canal and cross fields to Denton Reservoir where we will stop for coffee.
We proceed around the Res and take a footpath towards Harlaxton Wharf where we cross the canal over the bridge and follow the footpath across a field cutting off the corner. If the weather is inclement we will avoid this and follow the Drift back to Barrowby.
