The next in Beth's series of summer evening walks - which happen to involve a pub at the end!
Note: this is the same route as previous summer, but in reverse, and starting later to give those who work a little later a chance to get here on time. This also means we will not be based out of a pub and won't have use of its its carpark, but will go there for a drink after. Normal pub walks with food after will resume at the next one!
This walk will take in the woods and fields around Penn St, a sleepy village between Beaconsfield and Amersham.
This walk will start and end at Penn Street common (by the war memorial) and we will first head through the tranquil Charcoal Grove, before crossing the road and heading over to one of my favourite paths in the whole of the Chilterns - the chalk track through Common Wood. From there we'll cross back over the road and make our way back to Penn St via Penn Wood as the sun sets before heading to The Squirrel for a well-earned drink for those who want it.
If possible, please sign up on Meetup using the link below to let me know you're coming.
The route is very gentle with a few small inclines, but may be muddy so please wear sensible shoes.
Parking is available at the car park next to Holy Trinity church (note the turning is quite hidden on your right, entrance is directly opposite Chestnut cottage, HP7 0PB) or considerately around the common.
Please bring water with you and dress appropriately for the weather, which seems to have a mind of its own at the moment!
