From Penshurst we go east via Hoath Hill and then north to Chiddingstone continuing to the hamlet of Charcott for lunch - about 6 miles and 240 feet of ascent. Most of the climb is in a single easy ascent about a mile after the start.
After lunch, we head south with a stretch along a quiet lane before going into the Penshurst estate and back to Penshurst - about 3½ miles and 100 feet in ascent. Most of the climb is up a short sharp bit in the estate.
This is an undemanding walk in a lovely area along paths which will be familiar to many. There are some good views especially as we walk along Hampkins Hill.
Lunch is at Charcott, either at the excellent Greyhound pub for real ale lovers or on the tiny green just by the pub for picnickers.
Pub lunchers please note - the Greyhound want our lunch order in advance so be ready to make your choice before the walk starts. Our order has to be emailed by 10 o'clock so the start may be delayed while that is done.
Please contact the leader on 0794 821 2327 for a copy of the lunch menu. It would be very helpful if you were able to text me your order before Wednesday morning. (And if you have any tweaks such as rice or chips/white or brown bread don't forget to mention them!)
