This circular walk covers Broom’s Green, Dymock, Leadington and Greenway Cross. It traces the country walks of a group of poets from the early 20th century. The scenery and peacefulness inspired their poetry at a time when the conflagration of WW1 was about to affect so many lives. They lived in the area, were keen walkers and would use the paths to travel between each others houses. Our walk starts in Brooms Green, following field paths heading south west before crossing the River Leadon and entering Dymock. From the church it then heads north west beside the river, parallel to both the course of a Roman Road and the old GWR railway line. Emerging onto country lanes for 1.1/2 mile we reach the outskirts of Leadington before turning west then south on field paths and over footbridges, taking in a view of May Hill before emerging back onto lanes to complete the figure of eight route.
