Overview

The walk begins on the edge of Portishead along Valley Road junction with Blackberry Lane.

It has three fairly steep climbs and three downhill stretches. We start by going over the Gordano Valley and then up to Cadbury Camp for the morning break.

Then down towards Tickenham and up again to Cadbury Camp Lane, then down to Clapton-in Gordano. We have a lunch stop at the Black Horse. There is a place nearby for you to eat your sandwiches.

The afternoon returns in the vicinity of  the Black Rock quarry.

From Bristol go along the A369 towards Portishead. Turn left onto the B3124. Turn right onto Valley Road signposted for the Police HQ. Before arriving there, take first left at roundabout. Continue until Valley Road takes a sharp right at the junction with Blackberry Lane. There are houses on your right and fields on your left. Park on the right hand side of Valley Road avoiding obstructing the driveways of the houses.
